It sounds like you have plenty to keep you busy! That's great.
And I'm with you -- if you don't have to get a job, then don't. Do what you love and what makes you happy. I know if the M doesn't survive that I will have to get a job, so teaching seems logical with the devotion I have to raising my D.
My state (CT) has a program to get a teaching certificate on the fast track if you have the college degrees to back it up. I have a master's in English, so I would go for a certificate to teach grades 7 to 12. Every year they offer certificates in the most-needed areas according to open teaching jobs in the stage -- things like art, music, math, reading, etc. The summer cerfication is two months, full-time weekdays, with 3 weeks of student teaching; the school year program is Friday nights/Saturday days for three weekends a month from Oct. through April with 4 weeks of student teaching. Upon completion and passing of the Praxis II test, you are issued a temporary 90-day teaching certificate; you apply for a permanent one when you start working. The program is designed for those in a mid-life career change, like me.
Elementary education is clearly different -- I toyed with that, but you really need a bachelor's or master's degree in it, which obviously takes much longer.
I think you should really pat yourself on the back for all the work you did to support your H's career. Shame on him for how he's treating you...
And good for you for doing all the things you did for YOU today. That's great. I'm glad you feel better today!
