Baggy - somewhere you mentioned the Valentine's Day exodus. I know its long ago and no one probably cares anymore...but what happened around here anyway? The short version, please? Anyone?
I was off the boards during that time frame, so I don't know first hand. I did some post-digging to figure it out at some point, but the applicable threads/posts were apparently deleted.
All I know is that around 2/14/08, some poster(s) and moderator(s) got into a dispute over appropriate posts and/or the posting rules --> I don't know the details, and a rehash would probably be counterproductive. As a result, several SSM regular posters where either banned from the board or picked up their marbles and left the playground. A few drop by every now and again (under new names), but it was pretty scarce here for a time.
Shortly thereafter, the board rules and profiles were modified to further tighten the prohibition against private messaging and the exchanging of private addresses (IM, email, etc) between posters here. I don't know if this was related to what happened in February, but I do understand the need to protect someone from a potentially angry spouse/ex-spouse. It'd be nice if we could PM each other occasionally, but Meh, it's their board.
I was pretty surprised when I showed up here again in May to find NO ONE that I knew from before. However, we're slowly collecting a group of regulars again, and it's been fun.
