Thanks Trip - it does feel better when you get some decent workers at the cottage. It is a rare occasion. They did run out at the end, finished the job but didn't clean up or put anything back. I NEVER saw the cottage look worse. I was tired - lay down for 10 min instead of trying to clean it up then Josh arrived. We had a drink and snack then put my new bed together. We moved the hutch into the room and set up the tv.
Josh brought Shisk-ka-bobs, rice and a broccoli salad. He bbqd while I put the bedding on the bed. Brandon arrived just after we finished dinner and we had plenty left for him. The cottage was still pretty disorganized so we cleared off the couch and recliner and watched a movie. Brandon decided to sleep on the couch rather than Ashley's bed (which was back together) and we were all exhausted so nobody cared.
It was a RAINY w/e. Can't remember this much rain ever. We headed out to he Lake Association Appreciation Day only to find out I had the time wrong, the place wrong and even the day wrong! Josh says I'm 0 for 3!!! I guess I need glasses! Or maybe I need to slow down when I'm driving past the signs! We went the the French Fry Truck, got some more garden soil and picked up some steaks for dinner.
Back at the cottage, Josh helped Brandon put his bed together and rearrange the room. They both also moved in my dresser from the car. I love all the white wicker in my room - it is wonderful!
I vaccuumed off and on all w/e. Still not done - there are so many little fluffs from the installation - oh well. All are signs of the improvments. I still have a lot of boxes and bedding to return to the right places but I'll work at it in the next couple of days.
So, today we went to the Lake Appreciation Day and had some burgers, hot dogs and Gatorade. It rained AGAIN. Ended up playing Scrabble and moving some furniture upstairs (we have an unfinished loft).
There was a huge propane explosion in Toronto and Canada's busiest highway is closed. They warned that those in Cottage Country might consider taking tommorrow off rather than trying to get home in the chaos. So the guys stayed much later than usual. We decided to go out to the golf course for dinner and it was lovely by then. But Josh has an early kickoff meeting and Brandon NEVER misses work so they both planned alternate routes and headed off by about 7:30. I hope they get home ok.
So, I have one more week to finish working on the reno before I have to head home. I also have to get some work done for the studio this week from my pc. BUMMER! I hope to get my bathroom vanity, mirror and linen cabinet installed (they arrive on Friday). I have to find an installer since my handyman changed his mind. I also hope to get the wallpaper in the kitchen started. I'll just keep plugging away. Brandon has decided to visit with 3 or 4 friends in 2 weeks (I will be at home) so I want to have as much done as possible.
OK, this is a real ramble. But it's all part of my "moving forward". Before long there will be nothing of this cottage that my ex would ever recognize. I love it!
Karen - you were right. Apparently Ash broke up with BF again on Fri night. Whew - I can't keep up with the on again off again stuff. She seems fine, though, so guess I'll just have to see what happens.
And yet another death. A close family friend from my dad's cottage has passed. Dad and I attended her 100th birthday party last Sept. I just got the funeral info. It is tommorrow morning. I am the only one who is up north, although I'm about 90 min away. I might go to the funeral, though, on behalf of our family. We would go through this woman's farm to get to our cabin in the woods when we were kids. She was so warm and welcoming. Always invited us into her kitchen for pie. Always interested in what was going on in our lives. She adored my dad!
I'm busy getting things back in place and working on my crafts. Also have lots of work to do for the dance studio. BUSY BUSY>
Hey Barb yup not surprised about Ash, that R is most likely on the way out for good. Again school starts theres a whole new crop of boys out there! lol
Sorry about your aunt and family friend, gosh but there is a lot of death and sadness lately it seems, maybe its cause we are getting older, B was suppose to be at 2 funerals Sat! he came w/ me but also a co worker passed away at 54 of lung cancer. sad.
You sound like you are having some busy fun!! the best kind

Could have been at 3 funerals in 6 days - only actually got to one. At least I saw the others more recently. The one guy was just my age!
Today I'm working on my crafts on the beach. FINALLY - a beautiful, sunny, warm day. Took the Seadoo out for a spin
Currently eating lunch on the deck with 6 little green eyes staring at me. The 3 little black stray kittens are getting tamer every day. They're starting to follow me inside. I have to watch they don't get too dependent. They're SO cute, though, and absolutley identical. I call them "Moochy", "Gucchi" and "Hoochie Koochie".
So, its obvious I'm totally still on vacation. Oh well. The weather will change soon enough and the cottage will be a distant memory.
I think Ash's BF's boss is interested in her. He is just a couple of years older. I think that is why he encouraged the breakup. I hope she is not interested in him (though I think she is). I sure hope it all blows over.
Need to get going on some work stuff. We have start registration next week. I need to get my head around it. Not in the mood!
It is about 75F today. Cooler than normal for today but still better than it has been. I'm watching to hummingbirds duke it out Also a nuthatch on my peanut feeder and chickadees on my regular feeder. The 3 kittens are curled up together napping in a sunny spot on the deck. Today I had a mink run under my feet on the beach!
Did you watch the men's swimming on the Olympics last night? No - I wasn't just looking at the Speedos! The American kid who won the gold. They kept talking about how his dad had left the family. How it had affected him. How he even walked his sister walk down the aisle at her wedding. I wondered if the dad was watching the Olympics and heard that. I was hoping so. Then I was hoping Chuck was. And your Ex. And all the other idiot walkaways. Of course, then I remembered that they always justify what they did. They could bash that walkaway dad - it was NOTHING like their situtation. (yeah right).
Anyway, I was thinking of my son, Brandon. And your son. And K's son. And all the other teen sons whose dads left them while they were growing up. I sure hope they learn from their dads' mistakes and don't become them.

Yup, that would have been some story if I hadn't heard it all before AND lived it. As for mine, well I'm sure he was watching. We never missed the Olympics. Even had to go to Atlanta. Actually we were supposed to go to Salt Lake as well since his Bro lives there but he cancelled at the last minute, at the time I didn't realize why. Surprise! Anyway, I hope his Dad heard every last word and saw all of the love that this family had for each other inspite of what he did. What I wonder is to have a child that reaches such extraordinary heights, and not to be a part of that, well wonder how that in your face stuff feels. You know how we all say that Karma is a bitch. There ya go.........
oh wow I missed that interview Barb. I saw his mom in the stands and did wonder where his dad was. How sweet he walked his sister down the aisle! and yup you are right, all our WA would say, well yea, they are idiots but it was different for me, you were impossible to live with!! you let the houseplants die and stuff!!
idiots!!!!
