needless to say i was a bit sad (crying for an hour) that our hike got cut short...
Oh, honey...I know exactly how that feels, like you never have enough time with him. I think it might turn out to have been a good thing though (thank the skunk), because you said he seemed sad that it got but short, too.............you left him wanting more.
