Lemonade Stand is CLOSED!!! The lemons are bitter today.
It rained, it poured! We've broken all records for rain this summer, but that's not what bothered me. Went to my car to get my bread that I bought yesterday (had Ash pack it). Nice loaf of Italian from the bakery. Brought in several loads last night then quit. Had Dad's lawnmower in the trunk so it was partially open. Didn't realize Ash had put the food basket in the trunk. But the raccoons did. Suffice to say what remains of that lovely Italian loaf is strewn about my trunk and all the kitten food is gone too.
Went to Sears to order my mattress. Had done that on Mon in Niagara and they wouldn't accept my Sears card. Say what? I owe app $200 on it and have a $5000 limit. Said I missed a payment and was past due in the amount of $10! So I paid $100. Asked them to phone it in, but they said it would take 24 hours to show up. OK, so 48 hours had past. Well guess what? They have no record of my payment and won't let me order my mattress. They told me I could re-order in 2 days. I told them to "Stuff it". (mattress - stuff it - ok, my silly sense of humour).
So I drove to a furniture store nearby and ordered my mattress. They will deliver on Friday. The day Josh was going to set up my new bed on my new carpet in my freshly painted room. They phoned me 1/2 hour after I got home. Had made a mistake. It was $50 more than they had charged me. Ya know - I should have thrown a hissy fit but I let it go. Because I thought they were calling to tell me it wasn't coming on Fri after all. That is how things work around here. They tell you anything you want to hear but never come through. Well, rarely.
So, my dad arrived with my nephews and my bed and wardrobe. My water cut out the minute they arrived. No toilet, no water. This morning's shower had been dismal - I should have suspected. Anyway, Dad wasn't in the best of moods. Very impatient. Anxious to go. I made the best of it. My handyman called in the midst of the visit and I told him about the water. He came right over and fixed it. That was the best part of my day.
It poured again while I was bbqing and I heard the phone ring but didn't answer - was busy. Then Tango got out (she is an indoor kitty). I just let her go today as it is her birthday. She is in and fine so no harm done.
OK, they left and I started moving furniture. Tommorrow is the big day. They're coming first thing in the morning to install new carpet in all 3 bedrooms and a new laminate floor in the bathroom. My handyman has ripped out my vanity in preparation for the new floor going in. I ordered the new one today and it will be 2 weeks. I'm ok without a sink. I can handle a bowl of water and some Purell for 2 weeks. It will be worth it.
The call I missed was the Carpet Company. So sorry, they're not coming tommorrow after all. Their installer popped his knee out and will be off work indefinitely. They have no idea when my flooring will be done.
SAY WHAT???? I had another carpet company do this to me. They were supposed to install 3 weeks ago but never would phone me back. Now this? I'm only here for the summer. I can't go on indefinitely. This is just ridiculous.
OK, I have 2 wet boxes of bedroom furniture in the living room. A giant wardrobe is standing in the kitchen. My ripped out sink and vanity are on the deck. And my bathroom looks lie something out of an abandoned house.
ARRRGGGGHHHH!!!!
The good news is that the driveway was fixed for about one tenth of the estimated cost and done well. I will tweak it a bit, drop on some top soil and plant some ground cover and shrubs. Hope Josh is in the planting mood this w/e.
The other good news is that the wallpaper that was supposed to arrive in 3 weeks took only 3 days. Now I have another big job ahead of me. But it will look SO nice.
The first carpet company's manager left me a Voice Mail which I got last night. She said to call her to see if there is anything they can do to "fix" the hassle they gave me. I thought "I'd rather chew nails", but now I'm thinking I'll call and see if she can do the job in record time under the circumstances. Who knows. They do owe me one.
OK, I just had to vent. I'm only one person who has taken on too much but tried to do it contractor style. I'd better now quit my day job.
And Happy, I gotta tell you. I truly have no regrets about not getting the other cottage. Right about now I should REALLY be upset about this one but I know it will all work out. I believe that everything happens for a reason. Let's see what happens next.
