It is normal to be a bit guarded. The first time my W and I ML after sep, I was actually shaking...it almost felt like our first time...very awkward.

Congrats on a great evening, I would let him take the lead on a new get together. When you see him for the paperwork, just say something like "I had a a very nice time the other night" so he knows that you don't think it was a mistake.
