Now I'm thinking (stupidly?)that I was, probably, validating H to the extend that he started feeling quite at ease in seeing OW and being intimate with her. Did I fail to draw the line?

You are doing good and I am glad you did not call H. No, I do not see what you said or did as offering him a free pass to play with the spiderwoman. If anything, I think he is VERY clear on how you feel about him spending time with her. You are fine, just rest in God and be still.

I feel so happy today, D17 had her admission confirmed!!!
We decided to appeal against the exam results and request regrading, so we're still waiting for the results, but it's not crucial anymore!
And H called yesterday! He had an old friend over and I asked if he wants to call another time and he said no, it's all right, J. doesn't mind been left alone for a minute. We spoke for 5 min or so, then I asked if I can speak with J., whom I didn't see for a very long time, and then H was back on the phone. We spoke for another 5 min and I was the first to say "bye", to which H replied: ok, bye, I'll call you tomorrow !

Hurray! Great news Stella! Your d must be over the moon with relief (as I'm sure you and H are too).
