I am by nature a fast thinker and talker. I have an annoyingly bad habit that while the other person is talking I only half listen, b/c I am already preparing my response. I have heard how bad that is a million times from counselors, professors, etc. but I still do it.
Also, my H is a slower reader, slower thinker (for personal stuff anyway), slower talker, too. I compulsively jump in on his pauses b/c I feel the conversation is dying. I am trying to change that.
Also I am defensive so as soon as H starts down a line of convo. that is critical of me, I am sure I shut down on the listening and start building my defense.
OK that was all about me...sorry! Just meaning we all have our communication issues. My H still resents me talking over him, too. But I have 2 sisters and whenever H comes to my house he is amazed that we all talk at the SAME time but are able to follow the conversation?!? He can't stand it....
Feathered socks sound itchy. But you could go to the pet supply store. They have feathers on the end of a stick to tease your cat with. You could just tease Lisa with it instead...
