I'm so so sorry to hear about your dad. Life is precious and we need to let those we love know that while they're healthy. I think that's the key to happiness.

Oh, and your boss is not talking because she knows now what she will have to do because of your absence. If you hadn't told us all about how things were from the beginning and how you told her is was part-time, and she forced you into more hours - we would not truly understand. But we do.
