School in our district starts before everyone else, too! Until a few years ago, this district had year round school, because they didn't have enough space. When they went to the more traditional scedule, they kept some of the year round feel to it. So, up through middle school, there's three week break at the end of September/beginning of October, two full weeks at Christmas, and two full weeks in March. Oh, and the two day for the rodeo in February! The high schoolers start a week later, and only get two weeks in the fall. (I think so they can work summer jobs a week longer.)
