i wouldnt mention "this difficult process" part- maybe just acknowledge more positives- that way she cant come back at you about this difficulty, etc.
but i do like the idea of affirmation..maybe just say that same thing but leave that part out- say process instead?

i think it is good to ackowledge her- i want to do this today too for my H:)
