Sugarland does play the part of the OW in the song. There was some speculation (nothing proven) that her (Jennifer Nettles) husband was cheating on her. They ultimately Divorced last year.

This was a quote from Jennifer Nettles about the song/album.. I think the quote goes along with what we are talking about...

"Any time you go through loss to that degree, anyone who has gone through a divorce can attest to that. It's so difficult and so painful. Sure, your heart is broken but what happens after that is that heart breaking leads to a lot more space within your heart for other things to come in for compassion. There are definitely things on this record that are inspired by both the pain and the beauty of going through and then surviving such a loss."

The change in "attitude" was what I was pointing out with the "Stay" song.

In the third verse, the mistress then changes her mind; according to Nettles, she (the woman in the song) "has her own sense of redemption and realizes she deserves more than being with someone who will never be fully hers".

In other words.. DB'd her butt off.. and won herself back.

We all deserve someone who wants to be with us.. simply because we are ourselves. Flaws and all.

Sorry to under explain my thoughts.. hopefully that makes it more clear.
