Cute V. Day card!! I like it a lot.

I forgot you had one of your kids at Cal - do you ever make it up to Northern Ca? Would be fun to get together again. (I'm assuming Cal=Berkeley? or is that a NorCal bias?? ;\) ).

Hi Ellie!

So sorry to hear about DH's Father's Day Present! I guess life must be a lot different around your house w/only one child at home?

Your DD will love her time in the new city! I have many friends there and usually manage to visit about once a summer. This time of year it stays light for SO LONG! \:\)

Take care,

SG

ELLIE! So glad to hear from you. Bummer for your H--you're wise to prepare for moodiness. How is your practice going?

A long time ago you mentioned not working through all of the MLC issues with H. Have you two moved forward in that realm?

Be well, friend.

Just gotta pat myself on the back. Gave a lecture this morning to a professional audience of about 250. And I rocked! Oh yeah! \:\)

Where did I go wrong?
My S16 is in his room with his friend. First I hear MUSSORGSKY coming from his room (yes, Pictures at an Exhibition), now it's the Mommas and the Poppas singing "Monday, Monday".

Darn kids and their heavy metal!!!!! ;\)

LOL!!! WE always said, our musical tastes were so broad, that our kids would have to listen to Barry Manilow in order to rebel in their teen years!

Fortunately for us, this does not seem to have occurred to any of them ;\)

Little excitement here last night.
H had gone for a short bike ride after work. He likes to bike up the hill we live on, do a short hike at the top, then bike home.

He walks in the house, and I asked him how his ride was. He didn't answer - not too unusual, as he has this annoying habit of not always answering. Then he takes his helmet off and there's blood on his cheek. I asked him what happened - he says "I don't know, I think I fell but I don't remember how I got home".

Turns out, he also doesn't remember the last three weeks! He doesn't remember getting his face sewn up on Father's Day. We go looking for his bike and see that he's hung it up in the garage. 2 minutes later he's asking me where his bike is.

I'm thinking - second concussion in 3 weeks, retrograde and anterograde amnesia - this guy's gonna herniate his brain if we're not careful!!!!

I hustle his reluctant behind into the car and make for the ER. (He's gonna make a terrible old guy with Alzheimer's, he was so ornery and obstinate).

Thankfully, on the ride there his memory slowly came filtering back - most of it, anyway. He still has a blank for the accident itself and the mile-ride home.

CT scan of his noggin was okay, and when I woke him up in the middle of the night he was lucid.

Man, I am dreading another bout of post-concussion syndrome and the mood changes that come with it. This makes 5 concussions in the last 8 years, I think.

Luckily, he had no other significant injuries, just a few scrapes and bruises. His best friend had given him a bike helmet with full face protection, thank goodness.
