Is it possible you feel "broken" because picking up the pieces and moving through all the baggage (especially when I've heard that the WA doesn't generally like to talk about it much.. they'd rather forget it all happened) is awkward? It's got to feel unsteady loving someone... having a history with someone... but not yet trusting that someone. Or am I wrong? Are you able to trust her completely now?
