OK, so now we're talking about a text. I feel like I'm back to the drawing board!! Hm, something about NYC... It might be a bit of bullsh!t as it were.
how about:
"Hey B! I biked past a strip club on the way to yoga class here in ATL and thought of our walk to Junior's cheesecake. [that was when he said, "we could just eat dessert there {at the strip club}" and I said, "too bad I didn't bring my socks!"] Hope you are having so much fun at camp! TTTT"
LOL!!!! I'm only kinda serious here guys. Hmmm.. Doesn't really invite a response, however?? And it's a bit disingenuous... oh, how ridiculous it is to pretend that something reminded me of him, when I am thinking about him ALL THE FRIGGIN DAY LONG.
OR, I actually did just read an article in the new yorker magazine about his favorite choreographer, Mark Morris. B actually got to play for Mark Morris's dance group a couple times... the article was about MM choreographing a new romeo & juliet ballet. NOT THE BEST NEUTRAL TOPIC HOWEVER, GIVEN THE SUBJECT MATTER. I could try something like,
"Hey B, just finished an article about MM choreographing a new ballet and thought of you. [possibly insert hilarious quote from article]. Hope you are having so much at camp!"
However, that option would involve a direct reference to shared experiences from the past, which I have been trying to studiously avoid at all costs... but that was a shared experience when things were going really well. (When B was still in Boston he got invited to go to NYC to sub in the orchestra pit for MM's group. I took the bus down to NYC and got tickets really close to the stage, and during the first piece when B wasn't playing he sat next to me and we both cried b/c the dance was sooo beautiful. Afterwards we stayed the night at this awesome brownstone bed & breakfast run by a family friend, and took a bath and drank tea together... it was awesome. *SIGH*. HOPEFULLY SOMEONE WILL TAKE A BATH WITH ME SOMETIME IN THE NEXT DECADE OR TWO.)
