Great to hear from you Sad!!! Have you posted on your own thread? I guess I'll just have to look! Duh.

Yes things are quite well here. Did you take the NEO? Did Sam? I found it quite interesting. Is it any surprise that my TRUST score dropped 50 points from last year???

Hi Shiny,

Thanks for the advice and encouragement! I needed it!

I hmmm..think it is probably accurate that your trust score went down! Hopefully it is going back up now!

Hi All,

CJ neededthe computer "for a half hour" after dinner last night (remote link to his laptop is not working )so I went outside at around 6:30 to "putter"....ended up weeding, picking up huge stacks of weeds (20 pounds or more a shot) and chucking them onto our "pile of disgrace". I watered, dead headed flowers, pulled the weeds and grass from between our patio slabs. Then got my hands on the pruner.

Long story short, I pruned our mock orange bush, part of our hedge and the bottom of one of our 40 foot blue spruce trees. Enough dead branches and such for a modest bonfire. I only stopped when I realized it was getting dark out....nearly 11:00 p.m.!

I had kind of hoped CJ would have joined me, or at least come out to see what I was up to. But no.

CJ was on the computer at 5 when I got home today. We made dinner then headed out for our Wed at the Marina. Had a great time, Hacked, visited with lots of my family and CJ's sis and BIL too.

No sooner got in the door, CJ's back on the computer. I'd wanted to check in here, so asked if there was a chance that I could. He was checking a message related to his course...nothing critical he said. 15 minutes or so.

Now HERE'S THE THING...I mentioned that perhaps it was for the best that he didn't get either of those part time jobs he'd applied for last month. Because he seemed to need more than the 10 hours a week indicated in the course description to get the work done.

He explained that he was putting more into it than is probably needed because he wants to do well and is excited by it. I said that was good (and meant it). He then asked if I resented all the time he's putting in...and I kind of dropped the ball.

I didn't admit that sometimes it DOES bug me. Particularly when things aren't getting done around the house. Or with the income taxes, or with ME....arrrggghhh!!

So tell me...should I just chill about this? I'm glad he's into his studies, I don't want to step on that, in fact I'd like to help, but what about everything else????

Okay enough grousing. Onto you.

WOW Shiny,

The energy of everything you got done outside! Must be from all the exercise you get!

Makes me ashamed that I can only climb ladder and scrub on walls for 2 - 3 hours at a time and I'm beat!

But part of the new me IS going to get in better physical condition!

I don't have any thoughts on CJ but can't wait to see what sort of input you get as this is an old David and Pam scenario!!!

Take care and thanks for stopping by as always, I look forward to your visits and did pass your message on to David!

Shiny - CHILL! Don't send him mixed messages - you want him to succeed and do well on the course but you want him not to devote too much time to it? It's like when my H says I have to get back to work but tells me to drop everything and go out surfing every day.

Confess - you're really just upset because YOU wanted to be on the computer with us! Whatever happened to that second computer you were getting, anyway?

HI Pam, Hi Ellie....

BAM...right on the nose Ellie! ...That's the real deal, feeling pressured about MY time on here etc. We HAVE the lap top, but for some reason the remote internet hook up won't work. CJ's called a few trouble-shooter/help-line guys but nothing so far.

Yeah, I don't want to send the message that I resent his educational goals. PLUS he did call some guys to haul away most of the detritus from our yard. They're coming tomorrow!!!

And Pam...never be jealous of my "energy"...there are weeks, months, when it's all I can do to drag myself out of bed, then watch T.V. all evening!

Just having some pretty decent "spurts" of motivation of late. Gee maybe it's the extra 15 pounds?

It's just been such lovely weather here, that I crave "outdoor" time and find myself out in the yard, where there's always PLENTY to do!

Cj's out buying groceries for dinner...pasta sauce time again...vino of course. Gee, wonder where those extra pounds came from????

You know what, though? I bitch and moan about the weight, but I am still doing my full workouts, and my upper body is pretty nicely toned. Legs are pretty good too (if you ignore the upper inner thighs)....it's that damn thickening middle, I heard rumours that this happens perimenepausally...I don't like it!!!

All in all...All is well!

Hi Shiny- I've been following your tread but haven't had any great words of wisdom to offer you yet so I've kept quiet! Just wanted to say Hi and that I was thinking of you...

Now...I DO have some words of wisdom about your comment on your weight "challenges"...I have taught fitness classes for 10 yrs and have been to bunches and bunches of conventions, etc to learn the latest, greatest! You said you are still doing your full body workout. Is that workout something that you have been doing for awhile? If so- a suggestion: Totally change up the workout! Do something different (hey this works in our M too!). The idea is to "surprise" your body especially right now if it's used to the same old thing...I can give you lots of examples if you would like to try a new workout "fat blasting" plan!

Also- I gotta say that it is sort of a myth that we HAVE to gain weight as we get older...The main reason we have weight gain with age is that we continue to eat the same amount of calories but stop being as active. We CAN rev up our metabolism no matter what the age...And the number one way to lose weight is to eat less and exercise more! You can't NOT lose weight if you do this.(barring a physical problem like thyroid)

I won't bore you and go on and on about fad diets and "miracle pills" and such...but if you ever want any tips- I'd be happy to pass some on your way that have worked for me and my classes!

Does CJ workout with you? I wish my H was interested in fitness...I've asked for years but he has no desire to exercise...I even tried getting him to join my karate class (I have a brown belt in tae kwon do )but that doesn't interest him either!

Well- take care and I'll check in with you soon!

HI Sandra, too funny. I saw your thread up near the top and was about to open it, when I saw a new message on mine...YOU!

I know weight gain is not inevitable , I just like to make excuses!

I've battled the bulge my whole life. In fact I weigh about what I did at 12 right now!!!

I was up/ down/ up until 1996 when I had my last bowel surgery. After that I started working out in earnest and dropped about 20 pounds. Kept most of it off until this spring.

I don't know if the 10 pounds I lost over this whole M/OW sitch was just a mirage, but when things got better in my M, pounds started piling up! Also, and this is HUGE, for a while there I neglected my workouts .

You know, you're absolutely right, I should change my routine. Just worked so well for so long, and it IS rather challenging. But just adding the biking, hackeysac and all the yard work seems to be helping. So my body probably is "used" to my old work out and thus getting lazy with it!

Thanks for the motivation! I'll pass on any weight loss herbs/drugs and the like...too scary!

Hi Shiny,

Good luck on getting that remote working I'm sure David and I would have been disagreeing all the time if we only had the one computer. As it is sometimes sharing the phone line was a hassle, till his company installed a second phone line and is paying the monthly fee for it! Of course when he moved I switched my computer to it and still have my regular phone line free.

Well, the weight I have lost has given me more energy! Plus now I have stress and nerves to go along with the weight loss!

So what wine are you having tonight? I had another of my frozen dinners this evening. They aren't too bad. Tomorrow night is supposed to be pizza, a movie and see a friends brand new baby puppy! I do love puppies! David should worry here, but since he isn't reading yet, we won't tell him!

I am starting to get used to having the house to myself but I DO miss David's cooking!

Hope you and CJ have a great evening.

Hi Pam!

What entree is up for you tonight? I always liked the Michelina's pasta dishes. Quite good, and I AM half Italian!

Well for tonight's vegetarian red pasta sauce (with red peppers and zucchini of course) we are having a wine which CJ just told me to give you two hints about....

Clarice Starling and Fava Beans

Now even I got the wine type from that!!!

I'll have to get back to you with the tasting notes, as it's 6:40 p.m. and I haven't even started the sauce yet!

Tomorrow sounds great!! Nothin' like puppy breath in my opinion. Yes, I'm a cat lady, but that doesn't mean I can't succumb to the charms of a puppy!

Later hon!

Shiny
