Just say you had to pee really bad one night and pulled over at this dive bar. We were all in there! And broadcasting your personal affairs isn't that bad when you're just one of millions. Let's put it this way, you could be using twitter, right?
So the trick with getting people back in the raft is to have them hold onto their life jackets. Then you push them down into the water. The buoyancy of the lifejacket makes them spring up and gives you a little added boost to drag them back in. Of course they end up sprawled in the bottom of the raft with legs going everywhere, but they're in
lodo, gForce, Sugar&Spice, Cookie, Gypsy, dry_heat, MfromTenn - so far have expressed interest. The only trick is arranging a time that works for everyone...
I tried getting our office staff interested in a rafting trip and out of 20+ people, only 3 said "maybe". My husband wasn't one of them. Bleh.
I'm not sure how Mr. B is doing. He was supposed to be at the vet's all day yesterday for testing and the lady he lives with has been really great at letting me know what's going on, but I haven't heard a word. I'm trying not to worry.
And, Jeff, if my boss's 70 year old mom can go down Class V rapids, we can do it. =)

A big group from work went rafting down the Penobscot River, and going through what they called Class IV rapids, our raft dumped us all into the river. They couldn't drag us out until the next calm section. That was an experience going through that with just a life jacket! I kept thinking of Niagara Falls in a barrel. It was probably less than a minute, but boy it felt like I was in the water a LOOONG time!
And yes. This is fun.

I didn't get to go kayaking on Sunday due to a medical emergency Mister B was having.
Are you a kayaker too? So am I. Mainly used to river kayaks, old school, but have been going down to elkhorn slough or up to sausalito to learn ocean kayaking.

I am an aspiring kayaker, but flatwater or slow moving rivers only. I don't know if I'd ever be brave enough to tackle rapids in a kayak.
We just have an inflatable kayak. My dream would be to do sea kayaking in Tonga or Turks and Caicos or somewhere with deliciously clear water. Sigh.
Actually, on the Penobscot River, about a month after we got dumped, there was a guy who went down the same stretch (he stayed in the raft), got to shore, then keeled over and died of a heart attack. The closest hospital was an hour away.
But our trip is going to be FUN!
