What do you find attractive

I am of firm belief to pull out of a morass of post D one need to create a vision of what they want to be. That is difficult.

Often many wish include someone else eventually in that vision and hopefully that significant other is a complement not the basis of what the survivor of the Big D is to become. Otherwise the survivor will recycle the process.

Everybody has an agenda. I know the PC response is beautiful mind and such which is important but we were blessed with eyes, a nose, and ears along with other senses. The aggregiate is what people consider they find attractive so

asides from a good tushy/pecks? lol, hmmm, a great sense of humor (oh great,now I sound like those girls in Cosmo), but yes, a sense of humor is big for me. Similarity isn't a biggy, I liked stbx because he did stuff that I didn't do (camping, outdoors), etc.

If we are only going by the physical, I would say I am drawn to dark hair and eyes but it can be something like a certain smile or expression that could draw me in. Maybe it's in the way they walk or their posture. A lot of that comes into play.

I'm right now in the middle of listing 100 traits I want in a man.

I'm up to 40.LOL I'm in no big hurry.So I'm taking my time and listing them as they come up.In other words when I'm out and about and see something I like or don't I put it on my list.

I noticed a few things as far as looks.I'm sure I won't find a man with all 100 traits but I would like to get as many of them as I can.Some of them even contradict other traits.

The one on the top of my list is a man with a kind heart.Slow to anger.I listed a strong laugh.He must love to read.

I want a man who is strong but will let me be strong when he isn't.My ex never wanted me to be strong.He shouldn't have married me.LOL

I may not have finished my list.But it has already eliminated almost every man i meet while playing pool.LOL

I'm older now and looks don't matter to me much.I want someone who is willing to be a partner.Well not right now.But someday.

Since I'm ill today I'll have a cup of hot tea.

Seems I hit only one out of your three. My full head of dark hair has long gone toward silver (but the ladies tell me I am not permitted to color it - they like it as is) and I'm anything but dark eyes. But I do get stopped,very often, by complete strangers (female) that compliment on my posture(?) and the way I "carry" myself. What's that about? I don't understand that one at all. Open for explanation ladies. I'm really puzzled on that one (or am I just dense!).
Since I am an odd duck ,first thing the lady has to have is some intelligence - we will start with just plain common sense. If she can't get passed that - gone/ end of discussion. Second part, if she can hold a conversation and explain her views, where I detect she has actually thought about the topic, whatever it may be, and whether I agree or not makes NO difference to me. It's the fact somebody is "home" upstairs in the brain department. Major points scored.
Another major is the eyes - color not important. Must have a certain "sparkle" - which I relate to a self confidence in herself. If that self confidence is lacking - gone. I don't need to raise another one.
Now we finally get to the physical aspect - proportinal. Which means short or tall, but in a decent ratio. (although I am partial to a good set of legs, short or tall). Also, age appropriate attire. Dislikes - lady wearing the latest trends, just because they are the latest (but don't do a thing to help her look attractive), wearing heels but obviously struggling to walk in 'em, tall woman NOT wearing heels so she appears shorter (often accompanied by drooping shoulders). Trust me, guys can detect either. Wearing clothes appropriate for someone 20 years your junior (don't borrow your daughters clothes even if they fit) is a no no.
Don't bring your baggage along. I'm looking at the future, not your past nor mine. What is back there, is back there and we can't change it. Tell me about it later. Let me know where you want to go, what you want to do, what your ambitions are. Tell me about "forward you".

I use to think there were certain traits that made a Woman a "shoe in" for my affection. Blonde hair, blue eyes, long legs, and a petite figure were pretty much the standard for my initial attraction. Oh course, I had to hear a couple of sentences out of her mouth for good measure, but if it wasn't annoying or to bimbo in tone, she made the grade.

As I got/get older, I realized my standard was to easy to meet. I gave them a "10" before looking under the hood. Those types are a dime a dozen. I was putting them up on a pedestal where maybe they didn't belong. As evidenced by my last relationship and many more before that one.

I still want that "10", but that standard is much harder to achieve. It takes the whole package to impress me these days. Sometimes that "spark" for me now comes from the most unexpected sources. I really don't know what attracts me until I've had more than just an initial interaction with them. Attraction now has to grow on me where as in the past, it was instantaneous. I don't always know where it comes from or what to look for, it just happens.

Your taste is more refined and changes for the better as you age.

I find that one of the most important things to me is someone's voice. I know what type of woman I think I find attractive by looks (long dark hair, dark eyes, slender features), but never seem to end up with someone like that. So, there's obviously a lot more than that going on inside my head ...

Other things: intelligence, honesty, compassion, confidence/independence and humor are all important - as is a desire to travel and be slightly wacky (or accepting of it)! Ok, I think I'll stop there.

Overseas we would go months without the presence of a woman. Gunshots, mortors, bombs get a level of attention but hear a woman's voice over the radio and watch all the Sailors and Marines heads snap to. All ages.
