After church today, the pastor, the head of the entire parish, called me aside and asked if the rumor of my W was true.
wow I'm still shaking, I posted this earlier, that my W leaving would spread like a wild fire, wow in two weeks it reached the head of our church. I only told 2 people, my mom and a friend up the street (in same parish) and my neighbor (crazy old lady) saw moving van, so I didn't tell her she found out by herself.
Well I have to call father-in-law to see if I can stop by because the kids want to see him and give him some cards.

Hey Jeff, happy Father's day. Your life is still filled with such amazing blessings. And I know that it will get better. Did your kids get you anything special for your day?
As for the pastor, I think he isn't trying to do rumor control but rather offer help in any way he can. Sometimes priests have amazing powers to console, offer support and guide you and even possibly your W still. Don't back away from that. There is always hope.
After I talked to my pastor about my H's affair, I feel like I have a different relationship with him. He asks me how I am doing and reminds me that the church is here to help in any way. It is amazing how fast news spread, but still I think your priest just cares abour your family and wants to be helpful.

I think it depends on the church and the pastor. When I was going through my first D, the church leadership gave lip service to supporting us. In actuality, the pastor spent all his time and energy trying to figure out which one of us to excommunicate.

G, I know you've shared that before, and I really believe that pastor was horrible and not the normal pastor!!! Both pastors, the church I used to go to (H still goes there sometimes) and the one I attend now, the pastors are very supportive. But I do think, that if you have a small-group situation in the church, like people in sunday school and everything that can be just as helpful.
I do think you should consider trying again with another church, b/c I believe if the pastor/church is a good one they will be extremely supportive and non-judgmental! And I couldn't have made it without my church friends (and theatre friends & DB friends of course). I do think God is present in my life, b/c I think I've had a lot of blessings in the past year despite some negative stuff. I'm so sorry that you had that bad experience!!! Karen
ditto what karen said. Looooooong ago, when stbx first left he actually, for a minute there, wanted to turn to God, he went to SIL's church, the pastor there was all doom and gloom and just spend time telling him how wrong he was, needless to say, he never went back.
