If you want to know what he is about these days, you need to listen to his music, yes? You'll get to observe him, how he interacts with people, and all. Then, make sure he sees you, but don't go right to him. Be available, but see if he comes to you. But don't expect it. Look at the whole thing as a bit of an experiment!
You could send him a flyer to your concert, with a note, like, "thanks for the details on your performance. If you are interested, here's the info on mine!"
