Hey book club, movie club, writing club...why not. I have really wanted to start writing just scared that I'm not good enough. I'll have to work up my nerve. How would it work?
Kat, that is so funny that you asked me about writing yesterday! I had just started reading a book about writing called "Write is a verb" and it's subtitled "Sit down. Start Wrting. No Excuses." and so of course I was planning on writing b/c this book is motivating. It's by Bill O'Hanlon and it's like DB process for writing. He talks about doing one thing different, baby steps, etc. It's by Bill O'Hanlon, I'm only on page 50 but it's really good so far. So far he mentioned you should just try to schedule a time each day even 5 or 10 minutes and write, although he said you can write one page in that length of time and I don't know if I could do that fast, esp. in the beginning! But I guess with practice you do better. In grad school when I was writing every day, I did speed up and my writing improved too. Of course, the author's written 20 books so he can do it!
I guess we could do it by time or by page (like 1 or 2 pages a day) or 5, 10, 15 minutes or something like that??? Whatever is best for you and Lodo will be fine with me. If he's doing his Master's we probably shouldn't be too ambitious b/c I know that takes a good amount of time up! I think it's like I used to do when I was going to a gym, if I didn't feel like going I'd say I'll just go for 10 minutes and then 99% of the time after the 10 minutes I'd keep going, so you wind up doing more than that (is the theory anyway).

Also, Lodo has the "Waitress" in his movie list. I think he would like "Wedding Date". Do you want to put that in yours? I can have 3 movies out at a time, how many can you have?
What's Waitress about? That might be a movie I've been wanting to see for a year; I'm not sure. Also, I've got Wedding Date 2nd in my queue behind National Treasure which my S14 wants (half of the movies have to go to the kids!) I do have 3 though also. I haven't returned Keeping Mum yet--I will do that today! Karen
There were 2 Waitress movies at Netflix, and the one with Keri Russell is the movie I've wanted to see for a year! Is that the one Lodo wants also? If so, cool! I added it to my queue, #3 right behind Wedding Date? Is that right??? Also, after those 2, I was thinking "Dan in Real Life" might be good with Steve Carell but I haven't seen it so don't know if it is good or not? What do you think about that one??? Karen
Okay, working on the GAL today. I just got back from walking/jogging in the forest with the kids & dog. A little hot today! They're having a theatre party tonight and I'm going with my guy friend (will try to watch my boundaries & not drink too much)!
Question: I am thinking I will just go for 2 hours or so and S14 can babysit D8 for that long. I did that when I was doing the play and H was fine with that occasionally. So I am thinking I do not have to tell H I am going out tonight (don't think he planned on coming here tonight) b/c I don't want him coming over, checking up on me, and I do plan on having 1 or 2 drinks and don't want grief over that also (I haven't drank in about 3 or 4 months now). What do you think? Karen
I just wanted to relate to you on the Taekwondo suggestion. I have a co-worker who has a teenage son who has Asperger's -- she suggested to me to get my son (who also has AS) involved in a martial art since they tend to have some difficulty in team sports. Her son is into Karate and he has benefited greatly from it.
(I have been procrastinating getting myself and S7 involved in a new dojo that recently opened up a few miles down the road. But then all S7 wants to do right now is go swimming since it's summertime.)
I agree. 14 is old enough to babysit if you're nearby, and your son has your contact numbers.
Ok Puppy, if my H has a problem, I'll refer him to you! Just kidding! I will make sure they have my friend's # so they can call, good idea! I'm rusty at this whole going out thing (although it's not a date of course)! Karen
Oh, great, I had emailed H today to find out when he was going to be here this week, and he emails back just now he wants to come tonight! Awkward! I emailed back though great, I'm going to a party tonight and you can watch the kids. What do I do--like when my guy friend shows up; this whole thing is going to be awkward. Maybe I'll leave earlier & avoid him??? I'm feeling panicky--don't know why! Karen
