Just make sure that if you start accepting checks directly now, that you don't give up the right to petition for a change later.

If you're happy with what you're receiving now, and it doesn't keep you from asking for a change in the future, do what you are comfortable with.

Personally, if he's seen a significant increase in his income, I would expect his children to benefit from that as well.

Lord knows, child support doesn't come close to accounting for all the expenses involved in caring for our kids, at least that's my experience.
