It sounds like your H is really coming around. It is something that he feels so much for your friend through his crisis. That is progress I feel bad for your friend and all he is going though right now. Are you going to share DB with him?
It is amazing what MLC can do, that your friend never let on that she was in the midst of an A while you were going through with all that you have gone through with her by your side.
