I so refuse to go back during the winter. The last time was about 10 years ago, my ex and I drove back for our first Christmas away. The weather was horrible, slush, snow, freezing temperatures. I thought (*&^% no I am not coming back to this again. If I go, I go during the summer!

I had to get used to not leaving my windows cracked - in the Sacramento heat, that's a good habit. In AZ, it gets your upholstery wet!

When we first got here, we saw the signs that say "DO NOT ENTER WHEN FLOODED", and thought, what?????, this is a desert! Then summer came!

We had a huge flood here summer before last. I had never seen anything like it. Dumpsters washing away, millions of dollars worth of damage. The city has since instituted a sewage drainage system.

Now ask me if it works...

Hahah. I love the ones that way flash-flood area. If your car gets stuck, you pay to get it out!

Personally, I think it's a good rule. Lol. But the signs are funny.

I had to cross one area that was a bit interesting getting back to the BOQ (basic officer's quarters - our version of barracks) on post. There were some nights it was pretty scary.

No. And the reason it doesn't work is because we are on the border of Mexico, and they are too poor to have a sewage system of their own. Therefore, the Rio Grand overflows anyway.

That and I think this city is just to damned cheap.

Yeah, El Paso is an interesting place. I can't say I'd ever choose to live there myself lol. But I'm biased since I've only been there to visit Ft Bliss. Which is an oxymoron if I ever heard one.
