Well, it's over. The recital went great. Once started - the time flew by. And it was nice having everyone there. My dad, son, Josh. My sister, niece and daughter were in it. My 2 nephews helped hand out programs. Brandon videotaped and will make the dvds - a family affair.

Had a big party after the show and have some great leftovers for dinner tonight. Yesterday I took some recital flowers to my Mom's grave (she LOVED the recital - never missed it). Josh and I had the best day ever yesterday. It was sunny and warm - not hot - just perfect. We had a picnic along the Niagara River, went wine tasting, then shopped in Niagara On The Lake's quaint main st. Attended the grand opening of a new cheese shop then got a steal on hot lobsters for dinner ($577 each!). Picked up some potato salad and I made a green salad. Dined by candlelight and enjoyed a wonderful chardonnay we picked up. Saw a movie later.

Josh brought me coffee twice in bed then cooked a nice breakfast. Ashley gave me a bottle of my fav cologne spray, Ryan gave me a set of Fiestaware cereal bowls (I needed them) and Brandon called to say "I love you". The house is already full of flowers from Recital. After breakfast Josh and I had a great Scrabble game which I won by a hair. Sweet!

Ashley was reading a top Canadian magazine and was thrilled to see they printed her letter on nutrition. Josh told her she can use that on her resume. It was exciting!

And I have the rest of the day to myself. It has cooled off a bit so I'll make things and maybe watch a movie.

Life is good. This has been a perfect weekend for me!

I hope your Mother's Day is wonderful too!

Love Barb

Barb what a fantastic day-so happy your recital went so well- I never doubted it wouldn,t.
Not so good on converting Canadian dollars but
"then got a steal on hot lobsters for dinner ($577 each!)." seems a lot to me-how much in real money ie £ GBP?
Are you absolutely sure Josh hasn,t got an older brother or cousin?
Enjoy your week.

Hiya Naej!!!

Wow - I guess we really celebrated with those lobsters. We actually had 4!!!! Nope - they were five dollars and seventy seven cents each. A real steal. Just around 2 GBPs each - UNBELIEVABLE!!! I like the first price though - cuz I'm worth it - LOL!

Spent the afternoon watching movies. I am all teary. Just saw Terms of Endearment - hadn't seen it in years. What a heart wrenching tear jerker.

Talked to one of my best friends. She is coming to the cottage for a visit at the end of June (she lives over 3,000 miles away). I may also be going out to see her on Vancouver Island in a few weeks. Need to check on flights and elevator status.

Nope, Josh has a twin but she is married. No brothers. Not sure about cousins since I haven't met them. He is a good man for me!

Thanks Lissie! Glad yours was great too!

I HATE MIECES TO PIECES!!!!

UGGHHH~~~

Ok, I'm still cleaning my car. Every time I turn on the fan/ac/heat/defrost~ I get covered in stuff. Fluff, tissue, feathers, lint - you name it~ its still in there. Now this...

Central Vac went on the fritz just before they started the elevator. Since they are located side by side I had to wait. Been vacuumining with a dust buster - not fun!

So, today the vac man came. Just left. When he opened the canister he said "You're not going to want to see this". I asked if it was a mouse. He said "Yes". I asked "Dead or Alive"? He said "Dead! But now we know who caused the problem".

Ok, I think I'm going to turn my garage into my kitties' new playground. Keep those mieces on their toes.

UGH!

I'm BAAACCCCKKKK!!!!

Spent a week at the cottage. Not my best week. Not my worst either, though.

First couple of days were awesome weather. Planted my flower boxes. They look wonderful! Got lots of birds at my feeders and one young raccoon who LOVES me. Fed a lovely stray cat too. My kitties enjoyed their time in the Gazebo - their little piece of heaven right up close to all the action.

Turned cold and rainy just before Josh arrived. It was rotten weather the whole couple of days he was there (it was a Canadian holiday w/e). We managed to find things to do (LOL) like, uh, Scrabble and watching episodes of Lost.

I stayed 2 extra days. Yesterday was High Speed Internet Hookup between 8 and noon. No one showed. Many phone calls. Still no Internet. Today was Sattelite dish for Tv hookup between 8 and noon. Same company - our main phone company here in Canada. No one showed. I made calls. Finally someone came. After an hour - no dish. Couldn't get a signal. So he left. I came home very discouraged.

Daniel Powter was singing "Bad Day" in my car on the way home. Made me laugh.

Had a nurse quit. Got a job with better hours. Hate to see her go. Had it out with agency. They want me to get a nanny. I don't want a nanny. Our conversation was discouraging.

GOt home and within 15 min - 1. Ash was in a bad mood but wanted $ for groceries. 2. Ex called to cancel his visit with Ryan 10 min before expected arrival. 3. new nurse showed up at door for Orientation (no one told me) 4. Nurse supervisor arrived at house - I opened door and handed her $ (thought she was the pizza guy)LOL! OK< we worked thru some of our hassles and it seems she has a plan albeit a bit mixed up.

So, the good news is - the Elevator arrives tommorrow!!!!! I'm going to British Columbia next week!!!!! We have some nurses in Training!!!!!!! Josh is a great boyfriend!!!!!! Ash is going away for the weekend (to the cottage)!!!!!

My life is sure weird.

Oh, more good news. Cottage next door sold. Met my new neighbour yesterday with her son. I LOVE her! I know we will be good friends - she is just my type. This could be a fantastic summer!

Anyway, I'm back and my life is crazier than I remembered. Oh yeah - my car will never fit in the garage again. Boo Hoo!

Hey Miss Barb!!

Well at least your elevator will be in , thats a good thing!

Its a bit annoying when things dont go as planned I know! Funny too, although I had a really nice weekend, there were things like on the way to D.land hotel, i threw a piece of gum in my mouth and wow ,,whats that hard thing?? OHHH its my crown!!
and some other little things , but I guess looking at the whole pic, a weekend away w/ some annoyonances is sometimes better then a weekend at home w/ none! lol

So you have the internet and cable turned on for the summer at your cottage? Would love to have a cottage , a place to go whenever you please-- B and I took a walk around this little peninsula at Newport this weekend w/ these adorable little condos looking out over the harbor and I thought of you and your cottage, ahhhhh that would be heaven!

Well it is lottery day coming up lol

Have a better week Barb!

Hey Karen!

The electrician cut the cable and I lost my Internet only a few hours after getting home. Finally got online just before heading out of town Sat. Josh was here Sun. Busy packing all day today.

I'm going to British Columbia tommorrow to visit one of my very best friends. We've been through so much together. We get together yearly at minimum no matter where she lives (she moves often). BC is wonderful - she lives on the island. I got my flight free so that was a bonus. We have plans to shop and beachcomb, go to a minis store and for tea at the Empress Hotel in Victoria. It's all good.

Josh and I went to see Narnia (Prince Caspian) yesterday then out for a lovely dinner. He is finishing up his year long project this year and hopes to be able to spend more time at the cottage despite the fact he will still be working. He is also paying off his mortgage next month! WOW - wish that was me. He is talking about getting a boat.

I don't have too much to say. I'm sorry I haven't made it to everyone's threads but I just haven't had a min to myself.

I think of all of you every day. Hope things go well in the next little while.

Here I am in British Columbia with one of my best friends. She moved back here just before Chuck left me. She and her husband recently retired.

Talked to Ash yesterday. She went out with her dad last night - first time in a month. They go for dinner. When he picked her up he said "Can't stay out long - my dinner is being cooked for me at home". She was not impressed. Made him take her out for dinner anyway and watch her eat. So, he stands the kids up for the last couple of visits (hasn't seen Ryan in over a month) and then that - She grumbles and calls him "jerk" now more than I do - LOL!

Going to beachcomb a bit today and do some girlfriend stuff (like shopping!). I intend to relax and enjoy the day.

Hugs to all,

Barb
