Comparison shopping isn't that unusual, nor is it to hassle the car salesman. IMO, you can't expect to just smartly buy a car on a dime. Especially with Soobs (of which I am on my third. I'm a serial Subaruer).

He's getting a car so you can have one, he knows you're not in NYC anymore.

I'm sure there's another way you can get the car. When my H and I bought our first car together, we actually picked it up the next day after they detailed it, we didn't just drive away with it.
