Well yesterday I drove to the next town over to have the super-duper mammogram that was the followup to the regular one last week. I am not sure what the difference is, but after the procedure the radiologist came into the room to talk to me about some calcifications in my breast. He recommended a core biopsy, but gave me the option of waiting 6 months.
Right in between the first 2 bombs I had 6 biopsies. 3 on each side. The left side had 3 core biopsies. It wasn't fun. but I suppose it is good to make sure. There are a couple of things about it that bother me, however. One is that last time without them telling me they left tiny bits of metal at the biopsy site, to act as a marker for future mammograms. Well, I would have appreciated being told and asked before they deposited bits of metal in my breast.
Now, I have these calcifications. Some of what I am reading suggest that they can be caused by old injuries to the breast tissue. I am wondering if these biopsies are irritatingly the tissue and causing the calcifications? They will call me sometime today to schedule.
Well, yesterday I was in a bit of a funk because of this...as you can imagine. I went over to the neighbor girlfriends house where we regularly have happy hour. I admit...I had a few beers. (a nice microbrew IPA) When I got home I started to prepare dinner. I set a pan on the burner and then went to check my e-mail. Next thing I know, I hear a "WOOOMPH" sound, and go into the kitchen to investigate. The pan was on FIRE! the flames were about 2 feet high! The cabinet next to the stove was scorched and smoking! It was scary! I covered the pan w/ a lid and pulled various things away. Managed to get a box of baking soda out of the cupboard and douse the several small fires that were on the counter. Managed to get the burning pan into the sink.
That was really awful. I called my girlfriend whose house I just left...She and her dad (the one who fixed my door) will come over later today to help me asses the damage. I may have to replace the cupboard and the hood. The cover over the light in the hood melted completely. The house filled with icky stinky smoke. I opened all the windows, got the fans out of the garage and set them up and blew the house out.
So today I am going to the orientation for therapy. Not a minute too soon if you ask me.
Today I feel like running away to somewhere "beyond the rainbow"
