i agree with you wholeheartedly - it's all about learning how to trick yourself to do those things, the more tricks you learn the easier it is.
so is there a plan or it is still per-contemplation phase about working out?

I don't really have a working out plan yet. My initial thought is to start getting at least one bike riding session in every weekend. Of course, the worst possible time of year for that is coming up, but I still think it is my best bet.
I picked up a yoga DVD at the library, based on the recommendation of a few here, as well. So I need to actually put it in the machine, and see what's up there.
There is a gym available at work, I need to find out about what is available there, too. It is something that I have never looked into, and probably should have! Exercise has never been one of my favorites!
you have so much discoveries in front of you!!!!!!
altho it is not your favorite - anything that you like more than other in terms of exercise?

Once I get used to it, and do it a bit, I guess biking is what I like best. And actually, if I would get myself into a gym, I really don't mind a circuit around the various strength machines. I really do need to look into the gym a work!
there is cycling at our gym - with the right trainer it is so much fun - just go easy in the beginning due to your knees)))))))))))
may be it's just me but i hear some tension every time you talk about the gym at work - "probably should have...really do need to " - what is it about?

I think it's mostly that I know there is a resource available, and I've been too (lazy? intimidated?) to check it out. And I know it would help me! It will take some time, so I'll have to figure out the best way to schedule it in, but it shouldn't be that hard!
Don't be a stranger! I'll start reading up on your situation, too, and see if there's anything useful I can say. Besides hugs, which seem to be my specialty here!
do i hear what i hear from myself often - self-criticism, perfectionism and no self forgiveness???????????
what are you embarking now it is a complicating journey. it may be not hard to schedule - execution is usually hard for me)
you want to undertake a change of your lifelong habits - it not an easy endeavor, telling you from experience ))))))
the only saving grace - the process can be compared in a way to quitting smoking. there are lucky ones who can just stop cold turkey. but most of us go back and forth but with every new try we have better chances to stay quit/fit because we learned tricks from our past efforts

Hehehe....I knew you'd taken care of the clothes line, just making sure you remembered!
Jeff, your goals sound great!!
And I'm seriously imressed you gave up coke. But for some reason I thought you lost weight while using coke JUST KIDDING!! Coca-cola!!!
Glad your seeing a counselor. It's good to talk face to face with someone.
Just one little bit of info....most anti depressants will add extra poundage. So perhaps you should just dive right into some form of exercise now. I know I know.....you belong to the procrastinators club like me....but slowly I'm getting myself out of it. I'm doing the treadmill everymoring now, like I used to so long ago. I started out at 10 minutes.....not because I couldn't handle it more so that it's friggen boring, so I've downloaded audio books into my ipod and now I'm up to 35 minutes. I could do longer....but I procrastinate at this computer and then run out of time!! Vicious circle if you ask me.
Anyway....I love your goals, I'm will be reading along to see when you start the exercising! It really boosts your energy for the day. God knows we need it!!!
Stay at it Jeff!!!
Hugs,
Jeanette
