I've made my first big step, giving up Coke. I think I was drinking 3500 Calories a week in the stuff. In theory, that's a pound a week, if I don't compensate somewhere else. So far I've been pretty careful about that, I haven't noticed the scale plummeting, but I think I see a difference in my face.
I have an appointment with my doctor's nutritionist on the 20th, I think I am going to get hit pretty hard, there! In the past year my genetic tendency towards diabetes seems to have kicked in, especially in the past six months or so. So I think I will be due for a considerable diet change.
I drink a LOT of water, even more now that the Coke is out. Not drinking water here in the desert is a sure way to get sick, fast.
I will check out those sites you mentioned too! I know the next step is to get less sedentary. I have a knee that makes some kinds of exercise troublesome (no running), but there is still plenty I can do, it I just would!
