So here is what I know from talking with the docs:
They believe the cancer is in the kidneys and bladder. Now, if the Blood in the urine is caused by the kidneys, it is late stage. Ir the blood is caused by the bladder, it is early stage. Problem they see is there is cancer in both and believe it has moved from the kidneys to the bladder.
TK: My advice is to educate yourself as much as you can on this type of cancer and find the best dr you can, one who your mom is comfortable and whom you feel you can communicate with. Find out the survival rate, the treatment options etc. If it is treatable - BE AGRESSIVE! If it is not, let your Mom decide what she wants to do and where she wants to be.
You definitely need to become armed with information. It sounds like it's speculation at this point. I would argue that since they can't say what type of cancer, then it isn't even definite that it is cancer...since on a biopsy it really isn't that hard to tell the difference between a renal cell carcinoma (kidney) and transitional cell carcinoma (bladder or anything in collecting system from kidney to bladder). If at this point it's just blood in the urine, then it's premature to speculate about cancer...the source needs to be determined and it needs to be verified it is even due to cancer..it could be a variety of benign conditions.
You cannot be lonely if you like the person you're alone with. Dr. Wayne Dyer
Doc is confident it is cancer but without the biopsy and further testing, they will not know what type as you stated. She has had a ct scan and with addition signs and symtoms, he is confident.
But you are right, until the biopsy they will not know what kind. His biggest concern is the ct scan showed both kidney and bladder to be affected.
