Thanks for the good wishes. I skipped the party...I have to be ready for work at 7:30 am and I knew I would have a hard time getting home at a decent hour. So I took the doggie for a long walk along the greenbelt/wilderness path near my house at sunset. Walked for almost 2 hours! Saw Burrowing Owls! (Picture) They are tiny, only about the size of a grapefruit! My walk took me to a small bridge over a creek...I saw something moving in the water. I was leaning over the bridge, watching this movement among the rushes, when all of a sudden Argo barked! And a large flat tail emerged, then slapped the water and that was that! I think it was a beaver! But I didn't see any dams, so maybe it was an otter.
Got to get ready for work. Today is the last day of class for my Master's students. Celebration time! Their graduation is in 2 weeks. 2 of my FAVORITE colleagues are moving away this summer. We will all be having beers afterwards.
