I think you knew it was safe to bring it up and sounds like he didnt react badly at all, or back off, or freak out, so I guess the proof is in the pudding as they say, no damage done! So dont worry about it and what a great answer you got anyway! Thats hugely positive and must enable you to continue having patience and getting on with your stuff as he has the intention of returning home he just doesnt know when or how. You have to be the bigger person (we all do) and give him lots of rope.

My H has also told me he's very much afraid of hurting me and doesn't want to hurt me again. It may be the same with your H.
.. that makes sense. I bet your H wouldnt want to put you and your D through this again. Makes me wonder if my BF feels taht too. In fact, I think he did when he expressed doubts back at the end of Feb. His friend advised not doing it to me a second time after being so devastated the first, he should only come back if he was 100% sure (no pressure hey!!), and my BF certainly didnt say anything to me at the time.

So perhaps he just wants time to be certain. You are obviously doing a great job of luring him back though, or keeping him interested for now!
