"Jesus replied...I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery." Matthew 19:9
Seems to suggest that remarrying IS an ok thing, provided the divorce was justified.
Hmmm....
How to reconcile these two?
Perhaps the key is in
"Jesus replied, "Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning" Matthew 9:8
God intended for marriage to last forever.
Just like God intended for us to live holy lives.
But we are sinful, imperfect human beings. We often fall short of the perfection that God planned for us. And God realized this would be the case.
I believe we are dealing with the ideal that God intended, versus the reality of our sinful world.
Some of us will divorce.
And some who divorce will remarry.
God condemns neither.
While it is not His perfect plan, God is God. He is the master of bringing new life from the ashes of our mistakes.
Each must decide for themself which way God is leading us. These issues, for me at least, certainly fall into the "disputable matters" mentioned in scripture.
