Hi AG, Is it bad to be insane? At least by our society's definition of sanity, I think insane might be a step up!
Anyway I was at first confused why you chose this song, but then I realized that for you Houston IS a big change in latitude!
Hmmm outdoor bar in Houston, near Galeria, Tex Mex or BarBQ. I was going to say Cyclone Anayas, but they don't have outdoor seating. They do have the best margaritas in town, though! I can't really think of a good TexMex or BBQ joint near there that has outdoor seating...Houston's city seal should have a picture of an AC unit on it!
Have fun, SD

I know. Are you really wound up and wired when you go to sleep? Evening yoga really helps me with that one. It slows you down so you can sleep very deeply and wake up very rested.

I'm having issues with sorting out big things from small things -feel like I'm over reacting lately. So, I crawl into my cave and hope it all passes.
You sound like my twin! I have been doing that one for the past few months. If you lived here, I would have dragged you to yoga last night. Yup - you need an evening yoga class followed by a nice relaxing small meal maybe a small glass of wine and then go to sleep.
I hope today is better than yesterday and the icky stuff disappears. Icky is never good for the neck and shoulder.
I am quite sure my version of sanity is society's version of insanity! I actually thing a little insanity is essential to maintaining one's sanity.

Well - it is step up from Indianapolis - my last 24 hour getaway! LOL!
Right now - after the end of June - I am wide open - as in next to no work. Of course thay may change... But I am planning on taking advantage of that to do a some more serious changes in latitude scuba trip and an India trip with a stop at Ankgor Wat or Petra on the way there.

I've never been to Cyclone Anayas. I will google it. I certainly could use a good margarita or two. They are much stronger in Texas than the watered down stuff they serve here! LOL!
There use to be a lot of outdoor places in Clearlake. And maybe We will head out to Galveston on Saturday and do some seafood and ocean - or crawdads... I haven't seen an ocean in awhile...
My friend said that a cold front was passing through Houston right now - it is only 78 degrees! It was 34 hear...
I feel like a new woman today. Last night's yoga and just gettig out with a GF did wonders for my soul. That Clint Eastwood "go ahead make my day" mood has subsided for now! LOL!
And I am glad I followed the 24 hours - let things sit rule. Well those things are still here - I just care a little less that they are here.
Today - there is a voice message from start up client. Instead of angst b/c they are not gone yet - I feel good that they will be!
Last night yoga was the change in latitude that led to my change in attitude!
I have been neti potting for several months now. And I think it is working. It is allergy season and so far (knock on wood) my sinuses are okay.
Life is good. I will be going back to another yoga class on Thursday - I can still feel the effects of stress on my body. Need to get it all out.
The FL Keys were lovely. Just a tad too crowded and commercial. Thinking about Costa Rico next time.
I hear you. I like remote and not so commercial too. Usually that is a factor in picking my scuba diving trips. My friends that have gone to Costa Rico love it.

The doggies went wild when we arrived home. For the next couple of days they wouldn't let us out of their sight. Even hung around the bathrooms. :-))
That is the toughest part of going on vacations - leaving the pets behind. Although my cat lady is great so at least I know they are well taken care of while I'm gone.

The gardens are being weeded as we type. It's raining here today. Much need the rain so that I can plant some radishes this year. Want to try some new veggies other than the usual tomatoes and stuff. My cilantro is already sprawling. It's my favorite herb... I make a mean creamy salad dressing with cilantro, maple syrup and lime juice. Yum. :-))
Sigh...weeds... It was 34 degrees yesterday and there were a few flurries... I planted carrots and radishes one year and they did very well. D Please do share you salad dressing recipe? It sounds good!
I never make my salad dressing the same twice. But here goes....
In a blender add...
1 "heaping" tablespoon of sour cream, 1 equal amount of (heaping tablespoon) of mayo, 1 garlic clove (a big one if you like lots of garlic), 1/2 teaspoon of salt (I use sea salt), 1/2 teaspoon of fresh pepper (I use a grinder), Add a just a bit more than a quarter cup of lime juice. You can use fresh limes or buy the bottled juice, Depending on how sweet you like your dressing, add enough "real" maple syrup to at least equal or offset the lime juice. I like my dressing sweet., Add a generous handful of fresh cilantro. It has to be fresh. The dried stuff just doesn't cut it.
Blend until garlic and cilantro are pureed. The cilantro should give you a nice green colour. Stick your thumb in to test for sweetness. If too sour add more maple syrup. If too sweet add more lime juice. Dead simple.
I don't use a blender. Instead, I use a hand blender. I put all my ingredients into a 4cup measuring cup and then stick in my "boat motor" and blend away. :-)))
You can use this dressing on almost any mixed green salad. I prefer to use it on "baby spinach". It's healthier. :-)) I add fresh crisp bacon bits that have cooled to the spinach as well as 2 hardboiled eggs that I slice. The eggs & bacon bits give me my protein. :-)))
PC... An observation in aberrant human behavior. (And as for my own behavior - well it is what it is...) I think when I reach this point with respect to a person at work - this is when my colleagues are taken a little taken aback and sometimes use words like "cold." Actually The X used that word with me weeks before he left - so I suppose it extends to R's of all types. I give people perhaps too many chances at times - but when I am done - I am done and there is no reaching me anymore. It is the point where my empathy chip is disabled and I really just don't care. The other person can talk and talk - all I hear is white noise.
I don't know if it is good or bad - but this reaction needs to be included in my journaling.
Since I provided my commments and instructions regarding drafts of work PC had done for me - he has left 3 voice messages and 3 emails.
Each one is increasing in length. Each one is attempts to address why I am "wrong" from a different angle. (i) The Patent office guidelines are wrong so I am wrong to ask him to adhere to it; (ii) The people that drafted the application were clueless and therefore my revisions are the wrong way to approach this issue; (iii) the Examiner at the patent office is clueless therefore I am wrong in my approach; (iv) He has reviewed responses from another firm (one he knows I really like) and they do things the way he does them - so I am wrong (a lie b/c the main attorney at this firm and I talked to formulate a way to address the changes in law).
I feel like I am sitting back and simply observing from a distance to see how far PC is going to push this. This need to not give an inch. This absolute refusal to accept my authority. It really is so twisted - it is almost fascinating to watch... I can see why my boss and my boss' boss and PC's firm fired him so finally and so coldly... He must have done exactly the same thing with them...
PC inflated his bills by inflating time he spent crying on my shoulder when he was fired by his firm and removed from humongo client's list. PC billed time when he talked to my boss about transfering files from the firm that fired him to his solo practice. My boss wasted a lot of time helping him and went out of his way to do PC a favor. My boss called me to ask about the inordinate amounts of time PC billed allegedly talking to me- that is how I know. PC doesn't know I know.
So I will not be returning any phone calls. I copy my assistant at humongo client on all communications with him so I can track all communications with him. If my boss calls me to talk about time again - I will give him what he needs to blacklist PC at humongo client. I am offering no explanation b/c he will bill the time and waste my time arguing. I have no intention of paying him so I can tell him why I will not call him and paying him to argue with me.
Emailing Man is responsible for the fact that humongo client is my client. I gave PC a lot of leeway b/c he was Emailing Man's friend. I have fired other attorneys for far less. I have discussed the situation with Emailing Man and gave him the opportunity to see if he wanted to "call in a favor" from me on behalf of his "friend." Emailing Man said - under similar circumstances he would fire PC and even gave me examples of events that led to him firing outside counsel. Emailing Man is even colder than me! LOL!
I ran it by PMG. He laughed that an outside counsel would bill time for whining to someone about their pain. He said don't call him back and fire him and no need to even tell him why.
The increasing number of emails and voice mails are annoying - but in an annoying fly buzzing near your ear way.
After posting about PC for about a year now, my doubts, my hesitation - I really honestly don't even care enough to pick up the big stick. I will let him buzz till he gets tired and falls out of the air or perhaps slams into a mirror.
