Just wanted to stop by it seems you are doing very well. Looks like you are a lot further along then me with gold and DBing. Golf is so frustrating to me I am good at most sports, but just can't seem to get golf down. I am sure you already know, but just wanted to say your kids are lucky to have you as a dad especially now.

Thanks soul_mate. Golf in my opinion is the hardest sport in the world. Do you know what a lot of other athletes work on when they aren't doing their own sport - golf. And even the best atheletes in Basketball, Football and Baseball flounder at golf.

Kerry, My Man!

I'm glad to hear you sounding good. I'm also pumped you are still working on your golf game.

Quote:
Tonight at my golf lesson, I was taught a technique that resulted in a major breakthrough on my golf swing. I can now hit the ball fairly well on every swing consistently.

What did you work on? I'd really like to know. I'm interested to see what stage you are at and where they are pointing you. I'm so glad you have hit on something that helps you make a smooth, even, repeatable swing. If you can get that part down, the rest will come easy. My goal w/ my lessons and instruction right now is to get to the point where I don't have to worry so much about my full-swing b/c I have it ingrained. Once I get to here, I can spend the bulk of my practice time on the real area to lower scores -- the short game!

RTL -

They use video to help analyze problems. For me, I was bringing my right elbow up and hands up way too high on the back swing and I was not twisting well at the shoulders. I think I looked like Carl Yastrzemski golfing. It was causing me to hack down too much. My instructor said that he saw something else but he did not want to mention it yet so that I could just focus on correcting my other problems. There sure are a lot of little elements in what looks like a simple golf swing.

I have yet to practice much on chipping and pitching, which I too agree is where the lower scores come from mainly. I think putting is not a bit deal for me.

Kerry,
Nice to see you continue the therapeutic game we call golf. I can not wait to get out there. Nothing like a game with the boys to take your mind off your "problems". Last year on Sept 30th (smack in the middle of the bomb dropping), I managed to shot 71 (-1) my best game ever. Off the course I was a mess.

Don't underestimate putting. A one foot putt anda 300 yard drive both count for one stroke.

John - I probably will find that not getting the ball in (once on the green) within 2 putts is going to be the biggest thing to cause my score to be bad.

Your last thread locked up. We all await in anticipation for your next thread saga. Will it be in "Piecing Our Marriage Back Together Again"?

Kerry,

The right elbow high and high hands leads to a definite chop. Also, the no shoulder turn is a killer. Your instructor was right to keep it simple. Too much too soon can wreck your brain and cause you to overanalyze.

Keep practicing and look forward to the nice weather that is coming Oregon's way very, very soon.

John,

One under in the heart of the bomb? Impressive. You are the man! I have new hope now and am determined to get back out and play.

I haven't sniffed the course since around Christmas. I could use the distraction.
