One of my boys (he is in 4th grade) started a "club" at school called COD--Children Of Divorce. He started it after he discovered that his best friends parent's were splitting and his friend was having a hard time coping. I talked to the school counselor about it and she loves the idea and just recently referred one kid to my boy to talk to. I like that he has started it as a peer support group that is not led or directed by the grown ups.
That is so cool, Althea. I bet you are proud. That is so awesome that the schools have these groups or that people like Fig and Althea's son start them if there isn't already any. I don't have children but I think it is important that they have a safe place to go to and discuss things that only their peers can truly understand. Also, just to have some fun and good times is important too.
the hardy's group meets over lunch and talks but they also do fun activities too
and
they find neat ways to craft invitations and they protested to change the name of doughnuts with dads and muffins with moms to breakfast with a grown-up
Hardy#2 is such an activist
He wants a free Tibet t-shirt even though he doesn't really get it
So I joined a 'Biggest Loser' challenge with some coworkers... there are 10 of us and each kicked in $100 so the person who has the highest percentage weightloss in 15 weeks gets the $1000. Day 1: This sucks! Not only do I weigh MORE than I thought i might, I'm starving. D7 and I went hiking and I had an asthma attack on top of the mountain with my inhaler in the car (smart, i KNOW). It's not been a good start. I just want a beer and some pizza.
At least Subway is across the street and I think I'm gonna pull a Jared. Sheesh.
Thanks for stopping by, folks. That's the excitement in my life right now.
