Jak and Matilda, I enjoyed sharing my poem with you and others on this forum. My writing notebook gets more full and messier, so I guess that's a sign that I'm making progress. Putting it all together will come later.
My W and I met with the financial planner yesterday. It was good to resume a dialogue about retirement planning. My W said that she began thinking about it again after her most recent birthday.
The past five years have not been great financially, with the separation, my W's depression, and the distance in the M Now that she is revisiting this issue she is anxious, and possibly has other feelings too. It feels good to begin partnering again on this issue.
I've started asking people in my network to help me find someone who would be interested in partnering with my W in quitting smoking. She has given me permission to look for her. I don't think she's going to do it by herself. Joing a group is too big a step, as she has shame around this issue. She also needs space away from well-meaning family members, so she can struggle in private.
I spoke with a salesman who visits my worksite about his trip to Hawaii. I told him how a travel agent I spoke with quoted a trip there as starting at 8K. He told me that he was able to do it for far less, and is going to send me the name of the place where he stayed.
I'm going to speak with one of my W's friends about his trip to Hawaii. My W has doubts about Puerto Vallarta. I've let my W know that I'm still open to exploring the Hawaii trip.

There must be other places which would be less expensive where you could relax AND dance the nights away. I have never been to either place, but is Hawaii as touristy as Puerto Vallarta? What did you like about Miami when you were there?
That is wonderful about her partnering with some one to quit smoking. I hope that it will work for her and her partner.
The financial planning must seem like quite the baby step! this is great.
I think that if you found enough people to talk to reguarding the Hawaii trip you could save a lot of money. I will look into it on my end as I do know people that have saved a lot of money going a different route than a travel agent.
Mat are you planning a trip?
