Hi SG,

Thank you for the hugs and good wishes. I did some checking and looks like that is fine. I'm planning to get my signature notarized as well just to cover the bases.

Hi AG,

I don't feel well enough not to listen to my doctor!

I don't think there is another doctor in with mine to go see. Things have slowed down but I am still very weak and have no energy or breath to do anything.

Thanks for the vote of confidence that I'm going to wake up. \:\) Anesthesia scares me. I always worry about it when one of the shelties goes in for some sort of surgery. My vet knows that and she is great about it. The last few times my kids have been under I have got to go back and stay with them.

Hi Fig,

Thank you for the prayers so much. \:\)

Hi Barb!

If I were to go to the E.R and my numbers are still close to where they were last week according to my dr they would definitely give me blood and I KNOW that is expensive! She seemed confident that my body would regenerate ok if the bleeding will just stop.

I'm trying to focus and think logically what I need to do but I'm so darn tired all the time it seems difficult to just think clearly!

Hi Jill,

Thank you and I hope to get well soon. \:\) The bleeding has slowed a great deal. I hardly did any yesterday and thought yes it has stopped but last night it started back up.

I was about an hour late taking the progesterone and I wondered if that is why it started again? I think this morning I might take the morning dose just slightly ahead of the 12 hours.

I wanted to get some input since I'm not thinking clearly. Right now I am pretty much still feeling as weak as I was by the middle of last week. To me that means my body has not regenerated very much yet because I was still bleeding quit a bit. Now it has slowed down but I don't think it can be where she wants it by Friday. I'm supposed to go to the hospital to get the values checked tomorrow. If I don't feel any stronger tomorrow I think that is a waste of money because I don't think she would be able to do the surgery this Friday.

Any thoughts on skipping getting the blood work checked tomorrow and talking with her when she gets back in? I hate for her to just say well we need to give you a bit longer and have had the blood work checked and then have to have it done again next week. If she were here I could ask her that question. I hate trying to play guessing games here, at least with the shelties I usually have a better idea of what I am dealing with health wise. About my health I pretty much know nothing!

Pam: First off - put the notion out of your head about the cost of everything being more important than getting it done. You're already deciding not to obey dr's orders and that will only cause more trouble for you. You've already put this off too long and that is why you are in a weakened state. If you could/would pay the $ for your dogs, then you need to do it even moreso for yourself.

I used to have a very low red blood cell count. Eating a juicy steak really did help perk me up. Seems simple, but my dr agreed it made a difference for me. Are you on iron? I hated being on iron (lots of tummy and bowel troubles), but if you need it - you take it.

Many of my friends have had similar symptoms to yours and had the surgery. Uncomplicated. And there was a world of difference when it was over. If that is what you need, that is what you get.

The seeming impossible (like finances) rarely truly is. Things can be worked out. Just do it.

Hi Barb,

So far I am obeying doctors orders but I just don't think I am strong enough for surgery this week. I can't walk any distance at all without out feeling totally wiped out and gasping for air.

The dr. gave me some supposedly very potent iron tablets when I was in last Monday and I have been on them ever since. I just thought if my blood was building back up I wouldn't feel so wiped out and still have so much trouble getting my breath if I try to do anything.

Thanks Barb. \:\)

This is a decision for your doctor to make, not you. Pam, it's important that you do what the doc says. Especially, if you, yourself, know that you're not thinking clearly.

Instead of second guessing your doc, put your efforts to figuring out a way to get this paid for. Call the hospital, tell them your situation and see if they have any resources available. My brother had to have back surgery while he was in college. He had no insurance but he found a way to get it paid for that didn't cost him a cent. Even if nothing is available, you will find a way to pay for this in time. Right now, you need to do whatever it takes to get healthy again.

Lots of hospitals (at least around here) have a fund or endowment of sorts to help people who have no insurance afford medical procedures

call the financial office and explain the situation

be blunt

ask for money

it sucks but you would do it for the dogs
and
who would take care of them if you got really really sick

Dear Pam,

Please get the care you need to get better! This all sounds very scary to me. Bleeding and shortness of breath are serious! I know that there are options out there for people with little cash.

And...what figgy said about the furkids, "who would take care of them if you got really really sick" ?

Pam:

It sounds to me like you are not strong enough to do the research right now.

Shortness of breathe, blood loss are very serious symptoms. It will take awhile for iron to work.

Please monitor your condition closely. You sound like you are at a point where you need to medical attention immediately. Worst case, you need to just go to an ER and get admitted into the hospital and let them do what they need to do.

I know it will create serious debt and may require a some sort of loan against your assets. But your health is priceless. Money vs. your health - no brainer the choice is YOUR HEALTH. You can deal with the debt when you get well.

take care,
AG

Please listen to everyone, you need to get in touch w/ a DR. now, it dosnt have to be yours if shes away, and believe me , I know what the thought of having no insuance is like, I do not have any right now and its scary no doubt, but I am sure they will work with you, they wont let something happen to you.

I know my dr. works w/ me- and I have a friend who had major heart surgery and her insurance hardly paid for anything ( Kohls employee naturally!) and she paying off a little each month, however much she can afford, but she is healthy now and they were very good to her, so dont think twice about the money, its just money when all said and done!

Please call them today, and let us know.
