Cirque is a little weird, but honestly, it's such a spectacle I can't imagine your W won't sit there with her jaw dropping the entire time. It's mesmerizing...beautiful. Ultimately, it is a circus, though dramatic in a story kind of way.

Ah, yes, with only 2 days you should definitely explore the strip. The hotels kind of blow me away...

Did you know Emeril has a restaurant there? I'm pretty sure there's a Commander's Palace as well (original in New Orleans), and it pretty much gets voted #1 for food just about everywhere.

I'm glad you're not making this *all about W* and finding things you love too. You are going to have SO much fun!

Looking forward to the trip! \:\) Haven't really started slogging through the restaurant sections of the guide books - that's next on the list.

Speaking of dining out, W finally caved in and tried sushi about a week before her trip to Tokyo. And she lived! And she even liked it! (Although I guess the "real thing" in Japan stretched her comfort zone a bit...) Thanks again to SD for encouraging me to try it in the first place. \:\)

Went out biking with W and several friends this morning. The first nice, sunny biking day of the year - we did a fun, social 30 miles. Can't get over how much biking cranks up my PMA each spring - lately I wonder if I have a bit of Seasonal Affective Disorder, 'cause the lack of sun for weeks on end was really getting me down lately. (And of course, exercise is great for the ol' PMA as well!)

SO glad that spring is here at last!!!

Hey Rob--

If you have a second, would you mind checking in on Starshyne in piecing? She really ought to be in Newbies, but...well, she's having a tough time and living in denial. I thought maybe you'd be able to help her out too:

Well, W made a comment the other day about "having had enough sushi for a while", so I scratched that off the list for the time being. \:\)

I have reservations at Emeril's New Orleans Fish House on Sunday - that will be our "really big dinner out". On Monday, planning to hit the breakfast buffet in the Paris hotel, and then we have dinner reservations at an Italian restaurant "on the canal" in the Venetian. I'm hungry already!

Spent some time over the past week making up a DVD to give to W on her birthday (next Wednesday). It's a slide show of Vegas pics downloaded from the Internet, with titles that say "And Then We Do This" and "And Then We Do THAT", all accompanied by Springsteen singing "Viva Las Vegas." Plus, it doesn't actually reveal where we are going until Bruce hits the chorus for the first time, at which point the old diamond-shaped "Welcome to LV" sign flashes on the screen just at the right moment. Had a blast making this up, hope it is a big hit. \:\)

*Sigh*

You're so DREAMY! If W doesn't go crazy, I'll eat my own toenail. Fun!

Awwww, now if only W would go around calling me DREAMY, my life would be complete!* We shall see! ;\)

The biggest problem I have right now is that I am just DYING to spill the beans! I have to be careful - caught myself humming "Viva Las Vegas" the other day while doing the dishes...

W has no clue what her gift is. She tried pumping D16 for info. D16 just told her "Listen, if Dad wants to get you this present, you need to just let him!!!" Good girl!

Rob

* Just kidding - of course, we all know I don't NEED my W to do anything to "complete me." But it still would be cool! \:\)

you should check out the wax museum at the Venetian (I think it is...there are usually two for one type tickets) and of course the water show at the Bellagio...the Bellagio has a conservatory that has a ceiling made of blown glass flowers too

very very cool

Thanks, the Bellagio is on my list!

I've seen pictures of that ceiling, it looks like the work of Dale Chihuly, who has a slew of neat pieces at the plant conservatory here - I agree, very cool stuff! \:\)

Le Sigh! I love Las Vegas!

What a cool gift! I love what you are doing with the DVD. She is going to be so surprised, I am sure.

Have fun!

Well, today is a little freaky at our house.

A couple of friends (not close at all) of D16 were killed in a car accident this weekend - high school kids driving around at 1AM, too fast, possibly smoking dope, and wrapped their car around a tree. What a terrible waste - and with D16 driving on her own less than a month now, it has her, me, and W all pretty shaken up. Whew. Gives a bit of perspective to things, that's for sure.

On happier fronts, W and I will resume swing dance lessons tomorrow night (it's been a several-week break since the last class - hope I can remember what I had learned!) In the final class we attended, W had commented that I was (finally) giving her a strong, solid, decisive "lead" as we were dancing. Breakthrough! \:\)

And W's birthday is Wednesday, so The Great DVD Unveiling will be soon!
