Rob #9 - Don't Stop Believin'

Just a little update - I'm doing something fun and wanted to share.

W and I both have birthdays at the end of this month. I was struggling with choosing what to get her, and decided to do something "unexpected." I am planning and arranging a trip to Las Vegas for the two of us, in May.

Now, it's important to remember that one of W's big complaints was always that I didn't do enough planning of activities for us. That went from little stuff ("What are we going to do tonight?") to big stuff (vacations). Of course, part of the problem has always been that W is an Uber-Planner, to the extent that she starts choosing our next vacation destination in the car on the way home from the previous one - it's a little hard to get "ahead" of someone like that!

Anyways, we've talked for years that we would like to go see Vegas - neither of us has ever been there, and it seems like somewhere worth checking out at least once in your life! We're not really into gambling, but there are plenty of other fun things to see and do. So, I have already got plane tickets, reservations at one of the nifty themed hotels (the Luxor), tickets for the Cirque du Soleil show "Love" that's based on the music of the Beatles, and tickets for a Rat Pack "tribute show". I also conspired with W's boss to block out a few days of her calendar at work.

D16 is in on the plan (keeping it as a surprise until W's birthday - all W knows is I am getting a joint present for us so she shouldn't get me anything). Although D16 is jealous of missing out on the shows, she says she wants me and W to have a fun time for just the two of us. I'm really glad she "gets it".
