I have no idea if the affair will come out...so hoping it does. I know both of them are very afraid of that happening. I'm thinking it would "take the shine off" so to speak.

Theres no one that you think will say something to anyone he works with? Not that you should initiate anything as he would really feel he had justification for all his spew. I just figure there are so many that just love to gossip. Gossip sucks but in this case it could work.
