Sounds like she's a gal guys don't stick with, and if her D is in jail, I'd doubt her parenting. Don't make bonding with the baby such a milestone. Some guys don't until the baby is more reactive. My H didn't bond until our son was a toddler, and now he values that relationship very much. Patience is the watchword.
