It leaves too much to interpretation. I can understand the point you are trying to make, but will she get it? Or will she see it as something else?
I'm sure she realizes that not everything is okay. I'm sure she notices that you are not wearing your ring. Clear communication is key and putting the ring next to hers does not sound to me like an effective way to communicate what you are thinking.
BTW, I think it is a good sign that you W is still wearing her rings.

Also from day 1 I always wore my wedding rings away from the house but oftern took them off at home, the hollowness under the stones caught water and irritated my finger. H never wore his, he moves furniture. Me not wearing them at home was never a symbol of what was going on.

I now realize this is the reason My Wife takes hers off. The stone gets caught on things and such. No big deal to me anymore. I am not going to put mine with hers. Husband, As I've said before things have improved so much in your relationship, so see that as those baby steps. I too agree with everyone about the rings thing, I'm afraid it would just backfire on you. Don't try to overanalyze things, it gets us in trouble and doesn't help our PMA much either.
