FWIW -
I have a tape of a lecture by a guy who is team neurosurgeon for one of the big sports teams. He's big on fish oil for back pain - because of its anti-inflammatory effects. Minimum dose I believe was a total of EPA + DHA = 1500 mg, which, depending on the quality of your fish oil, is 2000 to 4000 mg total.

Can't hurt.
