Lwb, sorry about your friend!. I am sorry H wasn't more supportive, I have had to lower my expectations too and then am surprised when H does come through for us!
I think your kids will do fine! I think the kids and I are surprisingly enjoying the new calm, peaceful household we have now vs. when H was here, being crazy, flaky, and causing stress. And I really think he had emotionally checked out of our family a few months ago anyway, so maybe now he will reconnect at some point when he regains his sanity (if ever)! Karen
