Im so sorry that he is being selfish. But in your post you do sound calmer that he isn't in the house. and you need some calmness in your life right now.
Im so sorry about your friend, it makes us realize that life is so short and not to waste time enjoying yourself and making the best of it.. which you are already doing!
Remember in time he will have lots of regrets.. but you tried everything to save what you had, and he can't say that. You will move on, and one day find someone who appreciates you the way you should be.
