I've lost 15 pounds. Still have difficulty eating, esp. when H is hurtling D threats at me.

Don't always eat well when I do eat.

I hurt my back. Don't exercise.

Need to take vitamins every day. Even have script for mega vitamins.

Anyone care to join me in trying to keep up and stay motivated w/self-care???

One thing I will do is make myself exercise before I come on these boards....the computer time eats into my exercise time!

Breton,

Do you exercise every day?

I have found it helpful to mark a calendar every day that I exercise. It makes it easy to recognize when I need to exercise or have fallen behind. I am also in a habit of exercising every other day. This helps me stay on schedule when unforseen events interfere with exercising. If I didn't exercise yesterday, then I need to today.

Do you exercise at home or at a gym? Getting out to exercise helps. Many gyms have child care (mine does). You can meet people there who will encourage you and share workout tips.

You really have to find what works for you.

hi ((((Breton))),

thank you for starting this thread)

may be we can use this thread to write about WIDRT - What I Did Right Today. I always wanted to have a thread/place where you can go and just find positive and encouraging- without whining or complaining (we have all the rest of the board to do that)

the balance between being on computer and the rest of life is difficult to negotiate. what worked for you before?

SO what you did right today?

so far i had my breakfast - very healthy one))). i have the same breakfast every day, to make it simple, just different fruit with it. simplicity, patterning and planing - helps a lot.

what kind of support would you like?

Hi Breton,

You sound low. I'm sending smile rays via email. Feel 'em yet?

If I may pry, what did you do to your back?

And you say you're not eating well. What are you eating?

With my extensive military background, I can give you the ol' drill sergeant treatment if you'd like...

Exercise is a hard one for many people. I am not an big exercise at the gym type. I find it boring. So instead I have tried to find things that I like doing that are physical.

I like to walk so I go window shopping. Its fun, free, and people are around. I move my furniture around and clean. Lots of lifting weight and my house feels/looks better. I garden..meaning dig holes and lug around heavy plants. I end up with a nice yard instead of a gym bill. I take the stairs not the elevator when I can. There are many ways to use your muscles and get moving and at the same time do something fun or useful. Go out dancing...you get the point.

I also know people that have an exercise buddy. Some one to ride bikes with or go to the roller rink with. Go hiking with friends if you live in the country or walk if you live in the city.

On the food front, I keep it simple. Some of us have a hard time eating alone, I know I do. I try to go to lunch out and have salad or a meal I wouldn't cook. Again that way I am around people. I have a weekly lunch buddy. Other days I go out to dinner and treat myself to something nice (not fast food). The rest of the time I eat light. I also make a point of inviting people over for lunch or dinner, again company makes it special and I am more likely to cook something nice.

Hi, I too am underweight. I also need sleep. My house is a mess I have so many things that have to be done. I handled all this fine before. I think now I am obsessed with H. When he was here (12 years)I focused on all those other things, and NOT him. He says, "Too late now." I am drinking Boost and Ensure. If I hadn't been drinking them these past few months, I think I'd be in the hospital. I am going to a movie on Sunday. I guess I will do OUR taxes on Saturday.

-Well, I did do some exercises before coming on here. Not much but a little.

-I took my vitamins.

-I also got my hair done. Not a health thing but it made me feel good. I haven't decided if my new highlights are skunky-looking??

I will go right to bed after catching up w/only my threads.....

hooray for Breton \:\)

i love your expression re highlights) the other time i got extremely skunky-looking ones due to hairdresser mistake - i looked veeerrry different - so i just told him to put anther color over and, actually, at the end, i looked nice with glowing subtle highlights)

I think having our hair done is a very healthy thing

Sgirl - great decision to go to the movie \:\) - which one are gonna see?

it is good that you found some basic stuff like ensure to keep yourself going. anything you can add in? any fruit that you like? may be trying some exotic thing - papaya, mango? (the only difficulty is to find that are ripe - they will be a little softer and more yellowish - sometimes i buy them and let them ripe for couple days) which fruit did you like when were a child?

i hear you on the "things that have to be done". it is hard. i will be doing our taxes in march. good luck to accomplish yours on saturday)
