Funny how we try to do the right thing and it's not always appreciated at the time. It came up TWICE this morning.

When my kids were young I did not allow them to watch tv at the cottage unless it was raining. They didn't like that but it forced them outside to the beach or into the forest or playing with the many friends they had there.

We saw on the news today that most young kids watch 3 to 4 hours of tv per day and see some 80 plus commercials. Ash said "Mom, I'm so glad you never let us watch tv at the cottage. We would have missed out on so many great things". Hmmm...

Ash is SO interested in nutrition. We also watched about poor eating habits of kids, increased obesity etc. She said "Mom, we always had healthy snacks and lunches at school". I told her that the Kindergarten teachers gave a list of suitable foods and they were the only ones we could send in. She thought that was wonderful. Thanked me and intends to thank her teacher (who we live next door to now).

As your kids grow up, no matter how much grief they give you, sometimes they ACTUALLY realize and appreciate and tell you.;

I think many times our hearts are in the right places but so many people don't take good advice to heart. Like our exes. They knew we were right but were too stubborn to do the right thing. Or too selfish or too stupid. Most realize it eventually. Few acknowledge it but some do. Still, I think TRYING to do the right thing is the way to go.

Aimless mutterings....
