I would've split the rebate for the kids with her if she had financially supported them at least minimally or if she planned on spending the money on the kids in the future. Instead, I plan on putting any refunds and rebates in the money market for the time being. I would rather start paying down our "mutual" debt that is still outstanding but I need a cushion in case the kids and I need it.
