The only thing I can imagine is that at her second job, she was receiving tips but never kept money over the side for the taxes so now she is challenged with owing money.
Anyway, I am very curious as to why she would ask me if I have filed yet. Any ideas?
Just a guess, she was probably going to ask you if she could claim one or more of the kids to reduce her tax obligation. When you said you already filed, there's no point in asking.
Hopefully she won't claim them too. That's a quick road to an audit headache.
